Pillow Cases

Purchase a pillow case that you love. Target is currently collaborating with Studio Mcgee and Magnolia Homes and offer beautifully designed pillow covers. I also LOVE to purchase pillow covers from Etsy. They offer a multitude of designs and patterns, especially for your statement pillow (more on how to coordinate pillows later!)

Pillow Inserts

Most store bought pillows come with a basic- poly filled inserts that are stiff and uncomfortable. They do not give a designer look or feel. An easy solution is to swap out the current insert for a faux-down or down pillow one. These can easily be purchased on Amazon for a very affordable prices- 2 for less than $30. They come in multiple sizes depending on your pillow cover shape and size. Designer tip- Choose an insert that is one size larger than your cover. For example, if your pillow cover is 18x18 choose a 20x20 insert. This will fill out the cover and give the pillow a full look.

Coordinating Pillows

Not sure how mix and match pillow patterns and design? Here are some quick and easy ways to seamlessly coordinate your pillows to fit your design style. 1. Choose a bold pattern. This could be a large floral, Tartan plaid, Paisley, Ikat etc. 2. Using a color from the bold pillow, add a solid, subtle stripe or a solid-textured (i.e. boucle fabric.) This will ground the bold pattern. 3. Finally choose a smaller patterned pillow, pulling colors from the bold pillow. This could be a plaid, smaller floral or stripe. Done! You have perfectly coordinated pillows.
